BRATTICE CLOTH

Brattice Cloth Selection

One of the most important physical characteristics of nearly any brattice cloth application concerns its tear strength. Both weight and tear strength can be altered by varying the raw material components (scrim or substrate, adhesive and film layers). Heavier does not necessarily mean stronger. The actual scrim utilized will normally have the most impact on the ultimate tear strength of each fabric.

An inexpensive brattice cloth selection does not make the choice necessarily cost-effective. Let an ABC Sales Engineer answer your ventilation questions and provide assistance in making the proper product selection to meet your specific requirements.

VentaTex® and VentaLene

•Conventional - Weft-Insertion Knitted Scrim
VentaTex® and VentaLene (VL) fabrics incorporate a base of synthetic scrim between two sheets of virgin vinyl. Overstitching a non-woven web produces the scrim, it is then introduced to the vinyl. These layers are subsequently laminated together using adhesives, coupled with various temperature and pressure changes. The result is a strong, tough, low-maintenance, waterproof and fire resistant fabric. These fabrics are excellent choices for Brattice Cloth and Flexible Tubing applications.

•RipStop - Weft-Insertion Knitted Scrim
VentaTex® and VentaLene fabrics with the RipStop feature are manufactured similarly to the conventional style. However, RipStop refers to a fabric with heavier yarns laid in regular intervals in both the warp and fill directions. The benefit of this heavier yarn is it can block a small tear from developing into a major tear. As the tear moves through the fabric, it pushes the yarn behind it. These yarns continue to stack up against one another, each adding its strength to the pile. This is called bundling and it creates enough resistance to stop the tear from progressing further.

VentaTex® RipStop is manufactured under U.S. Patent #4,615,934 and Canada Patent #1,254,758.

VentaStat® (VS) Anti-Static Fabric

VentaStat® anti-static fabrics have surface resistivity characteristics of less than 300 megohms. ABC’s anti-static fabric complies with the Natural Resource Canada (NRC) requirements for Anti-Static and Flame Resistant fabrics, CAN/CSA-M427-M91, Type H-AS. Type H-AS is described as being "intended for horizontal or near horizontal applications in coal mines."

FireTex Fabric

FireTex™  I - Made frm a Fiberglass Base, weighing 7 oz./sq. yd. with a service temperature of 1200°, FireTex I is highly flame resistant. This fabric provides a convenient and flexible means of fireproofing underground structures.
